Roundtable Discussion

After going to the gallery opening, I was really looking forward to being able to listen to what the artists had to say, especially considering I did not have the chance to speak with them at the opening. As Patrick Nagatani stated at the roundtable, there was a "wealth of stories and experience" among the artists, and I feel like that entirely summed up what was happening. Each artist brought a new perspective about an artist or an experience and I genuinely appreciate to have been able to be in the presence of these people.

"Community" was a word that was brought up a great deal. The artists have built great relationships with one another over the years and continually stressed the importance of keeping these relationships strong to build your community. With stories like Ken Josephson's about the 50-day soup and Masumi Shibata's about always seeing Nagatani's truck parked outside his studio, it was hard not to see the great sense of camaraderie between them all.
